It's that time of year where the Rugby season comes to an end at Stewarts & Lloyds RFC. A very short background for those that may not be aware. I played Rugby at S&L RFC since I was 7 years old, up until a few years ago, where I was forced to retire at 34 due to injury. Since that time I have been using my photography and media skills to shoot their matches, headshots and more and keep their social media pages up to date and relevant.
This season at the club was something very special, as the senior squad went 22 games unbeaten and gained promotion as Champions! Photographing their journey this season has been incredibly fun and fulfilling as well as being drama and anxiety filled, especially towards the end of the season as each game was ticked off.
To celebrate their Undefeated Season, the Clubs President commissioned me to create a print which he wanted to have framed to present to the Club and Captain Dev Reilly. I was honoured to be asked to do this work for the club and to be able to offer something different to my usual photography.
Whilst I have some experience with Photoshop, as I use it to create images for their social media accounts, this was the first time I was taking on such a big project like this. It was truly a labour of love though and I enjoyed bringing everything together as I reflected on the past season.
It took me around 6-7 hours of work from selecting the photos to the editing and tweaking to get the final piece. I'm very proud of how it came out and it was incredible to see it in the physical form once it was printed and framed.
You can see the final image below...
Seeing the image printed has certainly encouraged me to get more of my photos printed as so many get lost in the pile of digital photos stuck on the computer. That will be a blog post for another day!
I really enjoyed creating this montage and it is something I would like to add to my armoury so it definitely won't be the last you'll see of my photoshop work.
Thank you for reading the blog. Feel free to drop me a message if you want to work together or you would like to be part of my new photoshop project.
